Good speed but no luck at World Qualifier Round 1!
We left Ipswich on Saturday night with not much in the way of
good results but at least with the knowledge that car and driver are upto
speed. A possible top ten result went begging in race 1 with a left front
puncture that dropped the 262 car down the field and in race 2 we opted
for slick tyres which were clearly the wrong tyre to be on at the start
of the race. Towards half race distance however the track had a drying
racing line than meant Brian was one of the fastest cars on the track
but given only one dry line it wasn't possible to overtake enough cars
to get up into the placings. The final was going well too taking into
account the starting position outside the top twenty but an incident spun
the car round and left it balanced on the infield kerbs with it's rear
wheels off the ground and out of the race.
So, we're disappointed with the results but pleased with the
pace and work is now underway on cleaning the car and when we get through
the layers of mud we'll set about repairing and re-spraying the panels
in preparation for the second world qualifying round to be held at Hednesford
on the 29th August.
