First race points at World Qualifiier Round 2 - Hednesford

So the second round of the world qualifying series has been completed. Held at Hednesford on bank holiday monday the weather did it's best to ruin the day but thankfully only the first race was rain affected, which is just as well because in trying to make a tyre choice for race 1 the car was fitted with slicks, then wets, then slicks and finally 2 slicks and 2 wets as the weather toyed with us! When we'd finally made a tyre choice it was time for the first race and initially things looked bad as the 262 car slid to the rear of the field but several laps in the tyres came in and Brian set about working his way up the order to finish 11th and claim the teams first race points. Heat 2 also saw an 11th place finish although for much of the race Brian held 5th until the handling began to deteriorate towards the end of the race. A dramatic final saw Brian start from the second row and get spun round in the early laps, dropping him to the rear of the field, upon catching up with the pack he again got spun, this time with a much bigger impact which saw the car spin round facing the oncoming traffic. Fortunatly Brians quick thinking saved what could possibly have been a huge accident as before the car had even stopped it was in reverse (according to Brian the only time the car has ever gone in reverse gear first time) and backing round the corner, dodging the oncoming traffic before spinning onto the infield out of harms way.

So, a dramatic final but the car isn't too badly damaged and work is underway getting it prepared for the next meeting at Ipswich on the 10th September.
