FEATURE - Developing a bodyshape:

Ever wondered how we make the bodyshell for our racecars? Well, most teams simply pick up the phone and order a bodykit (at a cost of around £2000 per set) but here at Loram Racing as well as building our own chassis’, engines and pretty much everything else we have designed and built our very own unique bodyshell which I’m sure you’ve already seen on these pages. But how do we do it? Read on and find out how!

The finished car. But how do we get there?

So, to make the fibreglass panels for our race car you need moulds. The moulds are essentially inside out panels in which you lay first a layer of gelcoat for the smooth outer finish of the panel and then your resin and fibreglass which forms the main part of the panel. But how do you get the moulds in the first place?
