Thrashnals Round 2 - Holy smoke!
- 01 / 11 / 07
The second round of this years Thrashnals then and an improved
entry this time with 47 in stock and a fair few in superstock and mod.

This weeks layout (anti-clockwise too!)
After improving the car a lot during the last meeting I was
hopeful of doing the same this week but I seemed to spend most of the day making
it worse! A crashtastic round 1 saw me in 5th but I suppose round 2 went better
and put me upto 3rd. Biggest drama of the day happened in round 4 as the car
attempted to go up in smoke as we’d wired the motor up backwards. Quickly
swapping the motor wires round didn’t really help the situation as the
huge schokty diode I have is hardwired to the motor, of course it was now wired
backwards so began to cook itself as Dad cooked his fingers pulling the wiring
off, at least our little drama gave some onlookers a good laugh! ;-)

My new Mardave V12 sat on the pit table all day and generated
more interest than my touring car ;-) More info on this one soon...
Round 5 then and the car still wasn’t right but I managed
a fairly steady run that was enough to improve by a few seconds and hang onto
3rd. Marcus Askell was once again on pole and just a couple seconds behind me
in 5th was Wayne who was looking very fast and could well have been higher on
the grid. Also in the ‘A’s were Jamie in 6th as well as Adrian who’s
going very well indoors with his cyclone.

Paul Hopkins put in on pole in the ‘B’s while Sean
made a huge jump from the ‘E’ qualifiers to nudge it into the ‘B’s
with Paul, nice going.

Adrian insists on showing us his whitened teeth ;-)
Finals time then and I was through into second at the end of
lap 1 and into the lead a couple laps later when Marcus crashed. This was all
going very well and there was even a nice gap back to 2nd place, the only problem
was the car had reverted into ‘sledge mode’ It kind of felt like
it was touching the floor (it can’t have been as it didn’t fail
the ride height check but that’s what it felt like) Everytime you reached
a corner and turned in it just slid straight on, particularly annoying when
everyone else had messed up enough to let me into the lead. Sure enough Marcus
soon caught and passed me and Wayne was next up as he zoomed in and closed a
fair sized gap in a matter of laps. Just as he caught me I crashed into a barrier
although I’m sure he was going to come past anyway as he was absolutely
flying as he raced through to take second place while I dropped back to 4th.
Adrian took 5th for the second meeting running and I’m not sure where
Jamie finished, I really wish they’d put some results online for this
championship ;-)

Wayne enters 'smug mode' lol
In the ‘B’s Paul converted his pole into a win and
Sean tells me he had a crashtastic final with some of the other cars.
That’s it for another week then, congrats to Wayne for
his great result, hopefully we can go one better next time! Also joining us
at round 3 will be Mike who’s going to entertain us all with that insane
3.5T brushless motor he had at Ashby, can’t wait to see that!
