Pole and win at TRAK Finale - 06
/ 03 / 05
Today we had Round 10 of the 11 round TRAK Indoor Championship.
Ross has effectivley already tied up this championship but was looking to end
the season on a high as he will miss the final round on March 20th to compete
in Round 1 of the Clubmans Cup championship at West London.
A glance around the pits during practise revealed Ross' usual
competitors for the win such as Rod, Russel, Michael, Malcolm and Jason were
all absent. He didn't get quite as easy ride a he was expecting though with
the unusually brisk (!) pairing of Adrian Webb and Sean Guy enjoying
some good late season form with their Tamiyas.
Round 1 saw Ross set pole time a comfortable half lap or so
clear of second place although in Round 2 Adrian found some speed and was in
a challenging position before a few incidents late in the race. Round 3 saw
Ross being hotly pursued by both Sean and Adrian this time. A steady 2 second
gap between 1st and 2nd was held until around the 4 minute mark when Ross' car
began to slow (New batteries on order chaps!) allowing Sean and Adrian to close
in. Sean just running out of laps as he closed to within 1.1 seconds at the
buzzer. Round 4 and some more changes to Ross' car setup gave some more speed
through the tight sections although Adrian was still keeping the gap to less
than the length of the straight and was looking good until a car failure several
minutes in. Ross went on to just set a slow 20 lapper and take pole by what
looked like a comfortable margin on the timing sheets although this wasn't really
the case.
Onto the finals then in which Ross and Adrian stormed away from
the rest of the fighting pack, both cars looked good but a comfortable gap built
up between the pair as they came through the traffic. So it was Ross who took
the win from Adrian and Sean with Wayne driving a great race in 4th.
So, a good days racing and a perfect score to end the series.
Six wins from the ten rounds have made it a comfortable win in the championship
too which is great news! We now look towards the final 2 rounds of the South
West Series and the upcoming Clubmans cup which is sure to be exciting.
There - was that enough of a mention this week Adrian and Sean?
