Developments and a possible return to mardave racing?
- 06/ 10 / 05
Back in August when I was sat on my arse in front of our ridiculously
low coffee table building the Xray I came to the decision that I really needed
somewhere better to work on the cars, somewhere with a proper height table I
could sit at, somewhere with some decent lighting and more importantly somewhere
I could leave a car in pieces without mum flipping out and threatening to hoover
pieces up! ;-) So, after filling my car up to the roof twice with old junk,
painting, and building a table I now have ‘Ross’ RC Room!’

Having everything
in one place and with a decent bench to work on in
a well lit area has made it much easier to work on
the car, charge batteries etc which is just as well
given the amount of meetings we'll be doing this winter!
Also whilst sorting through all the
older RC equipment I came across the first RC car
I ever raced, my old ministock, sat in a box feeling
sorry for itself which got me all nostalgic... |

Look Look! Somewhere to work! |
Remembering how much fun the old mardave
racing was I looked into what cars are used now, where they
are raced, what national competitions there are etc etc.
After a couple hours browsing forums and websites I'd worked
out all the different classes and formulas.

I found that national meetings are run for
all the short oval formulas you find in real life, such
as hotrods, f2's, bangers etc and that the basic cars used
are the same in all formulas and the same as are now used
by my first RC club at Curledge street school. So, thinking
that soudns like it could be fun, next year we'll be going
for a little retro action as well as the touring car racing.
Curledge street and the 1/12th oval Hotrod Nationals here
we come! ;-)
See you next time!
