A mixed start to 2007 - 14 / 01
/ 07
Hello all! Apologies for this update being a few days later
than usual but I’ve started my new Postman job this week so I’ve
been a bit short of time……and I’ve been far too knackered
to bother updating the site to be honest! ;-)
Anyway, it was Round 6 of the TRAK Indoor championship last
weekend, a good entry of drivers made for a tight qualifying session. I was
pleased to be on pole after round 1 (I was only in front one lap and it was
the last one, lol) but things went a bit pear shaped from there really, a DNF
in round 2 but nobody improved on pole time although Mike took it in round 3
as I had another DNF, this time the left rear tyre deciding it didn’t
want to play anymore and promptly split around the edge, leaving me spinning
into left handers on the insert ;-) Still, second on the grid behind Mike was
okay, Paul Rose would line up third ahead of Paul Hopkins who was in the ‘A’
this week along with Sean having a good day in fifth. (Although Jason raced
his car in the final for some reason) Sixth was Shaggy with Jamie and Keith
Jenkins rounding out the ‘A’ Final

Les had time to show off another of his
wonderful little gadgets this week, this very cool little helicopter! If you
fancy a go then order
one here for only 30 dollars! Think i'll have to get on of those ;-)
I knew I was going to be in trouble during the final as I drove
round to the grid, the car simply had no steering with the different tyres I’d
borrowed off Mike. Sure enough everyone was snapping at my heals on lap one
and Paul Rose soon went past as I struggled and ran wide. With the whole field
still in ‘train-mode’ I lost several more places and then had the
bodyshell jam up on the rear wheels, fortunately Mike Belcher was soon on hand
to straighten that out but I was still down to 8th and last and miles back with
a car that didn’t want to go round a corner…oh dear, one of those
days! Lol

I wasn’t the only one in trouble though with 1st and 3rd
place qualifiers Mike and Paul running into problems and joining me at the wrong
end of the order ;-) Thankfully as the race went on my car improved a little
bit, enough for me to catch and pass Jamie, then Wayne as he had a bodyshell
problem as I’d had. With a lap or two to go I was able to cruise past
Keith for fifth. Well, fourth really I suppose as Jason stayed out of trouble
and drove his Dads car very well to win from Hopkins, Paul Rose, Mike, and myself.
Hopefully with some new tyres on the car next week I can put
a stop to the recent few bad results and get back to winning ways. See you next
time :-)
