Stock debut a success - 14 / 09 / 04

Today was Ross Loram's first outing in the 27T stock class. The class switch is due to all the local competitive drivers moving from modified to stock so the switch has been made to the class with the highest level of competition. The first meeting was last sunday at the Acorn Centre in Torquay. It's a local championship run by TRAK and it's one Ross has said he wants to win this year. Early signs were good as Ross appeared to be straight on the pace in practise and proved this by storming to provisional pole after round one of qualifying ahead of some fast drivers such as Malcolm Shears, Paul Rose and Conrad Ashton. By the end of qualifying Ross had been knocked down to third on the grid after suffering duration problems with batteries over a year old and certainly past their best. The final was a really good race with Malcolm Shears getting out in front leaving Paul Rose and Ross to fight over 2nd, Ross getting the better of Paul in the last few laps of the race and hanging on despite more duration problems in the last few laps.

So that was the first Stock meeting and if it was anything to go by a good season should be in store.
