Second at Plymouth - 15 / 01 /
05
It was a relativley good meeting today at Plymouth on sunday
for Round 9 of the South West Series. Ross looked set to qualify second on the
grid but he was pipped to the place near the end of the final qualifier by the
extremley rapid TC3 of Michael Doody. So it was Russel on pole from Michael
with Ross third followed by Tim, Malcolm, Barry and Sean.
Turn 1 of the final saw Ross get smashed out of the way by Tim
only for Ross to return the favour at the next corner and move back into third.
This let the front pairing of Russel and Michael get away. However, 4 laps in
Michaels motor expired which left Russel with a comfortable gap over Ross in
second who in turn had a large gap over the fast but crash-happy Malcolm in
third. It stayed like this till the finish which left Ross fairly satisified
with the result but looking for a little more outright speed over a single lap.
It has to be said the super tight track wasn't really great for Touring cars
but the 1/12ths seemed to enjoy it ;)
The next meeting is a local round at Torquay on the 20th February,
Ross wants a good result here to make sure of the championship as we move towards
the end of the indoor season,
