BTCC Round 2 Report - 16 / 05 /
06
Okay this week we have Sean's report of how the other local
drivers got on at BTCC Round 2, held at Bedworth, take it away Sean...
The Saturday morning started at 2 am for me and being on the
road at 3 am towing my caravan seemed quite early enough. With clear roads and
good weather we made Bedworth for 7am with a pit stop on the M42 to meet shaggy
and his Dad. Not realising at the time that this was the 1st visit to this track
for Adrian, Wayne, Mike, James and Justin. I have been here before racing 19t
and with Jason at the hpi nitro so I didn’t even glance at the track and
saw lots of others picking their lines whilst I was thinking about going to
sleep.
After cleaning the track as local as*=oles had thrown garbage
all over it the night before I decided I wasn’t getting any sleep and
would go out with Justin to see if I knew my way round this very flowing track.
Looking over my shoulder I could see Justin itching to be the 1st to push me
off the track. The practise sessions I had with Justin was probably the most
enjoyable I have ever had. We were taking 19t cars down the straight and staying
with mods around the infield. We both looked at each other knowing that we were
on the pace from the start and really had to find some 27t cars to run with.
Next out was Jason and Adrian who again made the fast track look like a pussy
cat and were up on some fast laps from the start, Adrian not being as consistent
as he normally is but still looked like he knew the way round and with some
good speed in his Evo he too finished the practice session looking to be on
fire the next day.

Mike even got to share the track with some of the worlds best
drivers, i'm so jealous!!!
Mike was the final 27t driver to hit the track and he was soon
to be amongst Chris Grainger , Craig Dresher and Andy Moore who turned up to
practise for next weeks BRCA national. Mike eventually heard everybody shouting
from our pits and came off and let them have the track to themselves!
Out went the 19t boys and both Pauls were hitting good laps
with James hitting everything else. Wayne was to go out and be blasted down
the straight by Adrian who was again out there trying to get some more feeling
in his car. Wayne seemed to be slow and after 2 or 3 runs later didn’t
look like getting any faster. After skimming then re-skimming and re-setting
his speedo he seemed to be a little quicker but still needed more. Jason was
again out there with Justin and was looking very fast with borrowed motors as
he forgot his. Justin looked relaxed and was to have a rude awakening by the
shape of a large brick wall which demolished his rear shock tower and maybe
shaped the rest of his weekend by being a little more cautious in the now re-named
"Laundau's Landing".
Les was to go out with his GTRe and wallowed his way around
the now seemingly very narrow track to these monsters from the deep lagoon.
I then took his car round for about 6 laps and thought that it was great drifting
but will not be rushing to scum-maker to buy one.
With the practise now over we planned to sit down for a relaxing night with
a Chinese called noodle and lager in the ice bucket. Then came Bob "the
tit" Burr and asked us to move all our caravans and cars away from the
side of the track as they may cause interference to the racers the following
day. MMmmm , I'm not a scientist but Graphite poles and fibreglass caravans
don’t amount into much interference in my books. I'm not a scientist but
do have a City and Guilds in electrical practise and theory and the didn’t
mention anything about caravans and RF output on the course I was on and I got
2 distinctions so I guess I was listening pretty good. This is why I think Bob
Burr is a "TIT" and was pleased to find out the following day that
I was in a large majority of people who thought the same.
Rudely awakened on race day by yet another group of 100 % tossers
going by names of Maddison and groupes I was amazed to see a HUGE merc sprinter
and gazebo in the space we were told to move from the night before. The Van
had its engine running all day long and the walkway was blocked as people could
now not walk through. Nice one Bob........YOU ARE A TIT!!!!

An aerial view of Bedworth, looks like a good drive
Onto the racing........Heat 1 was wet and wonderful but a few
of us went out just to feel the track in the wet and found that Justin and myself
were in the "A"s with the company of all the "A"s. 2 drivers
were re-instated after being ruled out for illegal tyres which shot me to the
top of the "B"s. Nice one Bob........YOU ARE A TIT!!!!
By now we had all had a run and the 40mhz boys started to get
glitches. I don’t think I need to tell you where the glitches were do
I....
As the day got drier then faster times went in. Jason got his TQ took away because
he was underweight, but still had the right tyres on, Guess what Bob is.....
19 turn drivers were led by Paul Rose who had a very fast mission
underneath him by now followed by Paul Hopkins who had a splintered chassis
underneath him and not getting the car in and out of the corners costing him
a "B" final. Waynes speed increased all day and was to line up on
the grid just a couple of places behind Paul Hopkins in the "C" final.
Overall...
Stock A ...Justin took 9th on the grid. Well done Dude.
Stock B....Jason took 6th on the grid. Unlucky not to join Justin.
Stock C... Sean took 3rd on the grid. Car was good enough for an "A"
spot.
Stock C ..Adrian took 9th on the grid. You know you can do better!
Stock E.. Mike took 9th on the grid.
19 t B...Paul Rose took 8th on the grid
19 t C..Paul Hopkins took 5th on the grid
19 t C.. Wayne took 8th on the grid
19 t F.. James took 2nd on the grid.
GTRe.. Les took 8th on the grid.
After all the finals which I thought were banger races with
absolutely no-one getting punished for blatant ramming then the following standings
were.
Stocks Justin 8th, Jason 17th, Sean 23rd, Adrian 29th, Mike
48th.
19t Paul Rose 18th, Wayne 27th, Paul Hopkins 28th, James 54th
GTRE. Les Bell 8th.
With only 1 piece of silverware coming home from Bedworth (guess
who) and my prediction correct for Justin then things could get interesting
in London in 4 weeks. Hopefully Bob the Tit won’t be there. The most enjoyable
part of the weekend for me was the company. You Guys are all legends not just
me!!
Good luck at London.
Thanks for that Sean, i'm quite liking this system of you doing
all the writing, it's proving to be much easier! ;-)
